About Us
Located near the heart of the Twin Cities, Holland House Clock Company is filling the need for high quality grandfather clocks at prices that are affordable to the general public.
At Holland House the first commitment is to quality and craftsmanship. Everything Holland House does in constructing their timepieces is carefully and skillfully done to assure that you have the finest clock possible. Our reputation stands behind each Holland House clock made.
Holland House begins with the best designs from the best designers, who know art and are familiar with the various periods and styles of furniture you may have in your home, and who bring that knowledge and skill into designing beautiful, heirloom quality timepieces.
After selecting the finest hardwoods and veneers from pre-selected samples, Holland House's skilled craftsmen begin cutting to design specifications the individually shaped components of each clocks cabinet. The inset panels of the cabinetry are then carefully hand-fitted flush to the clocks doorframe or side panels.
Special attention is given to the clocks crown. Each section is sanded to a smooth surface and then inspected. The cabinet and the crown are then carefully assembled.
Each clock cabinet at this stage is pre-tested for the precise placement of each individual part, including the movement and dial assembly.
The important, detailed finishing process now begins. Each clock can have as many as 18 finishing steps of hand rubbing the wood to a deep, rich patina, and then waxing. Every inch of the clock receives this personal attention. The doors of Holland House clocks are built thick, and most have decorative edges designed to complement the clock's appearance. The door glass is then fitted to frame.
Each has a special retainer molding that secures the glass in place and allows for easy removal for cleaning or replacement. Gleaming brass door hardware is accurately positioned and brass accent pieces are then attached. Four floor levelers are then secured to each clock base. Fully beveled glass opening doors are used on most of our clocks to cover both sides of the crown. This enables sight and physical access to the clock movement itself. The side entry is a wonderful time saving asset for cleaning and oiling your clock, which should be done annually
Final quality control inspection under high intensity lights insures Holland House's famous workmanship in the cabinet construction and wood finish.
The clock's German 'Hermle' movement is fully inspected before assembling. The movements are thoroughly tested for accuracy before mounting to the dial plate. Then the clock hands are precisely attached to the movement.
After movement and dial are set in place in the cabinet, the clock is fully tested and turned before shipment.
Each Holland House clock is thoroughly inspected in each step of its construction to meet our high standards for quality. Our skilled and dedicated craftsman work hard to make sure the timepiece you select is the best representation of their work, and worthy of the Holland House name.
